Description

Mudfish is a network acceleration service that goes beyond traditional VPNs. Designed primarily for gaming and streaming, it applies various WAN Optimization techniques to make TCP and UDP connections more robust and faster. Unlike conventional VPNs, Mudfish can be configured to pass only game traffic, reducing overhead and maximizing performance.

Key Features

  • WAN Optimization Technology — Reduces lag and improves game connection stability through advanced routing algorithms.
  • Server Chain & Multi Path Mode — Route traffic through multiple Mudfish nodes for better reliability, redundancy, and speed.
  • Full VPN Support — Route all traffic or selectively pass only specific application traffic as needed.
  • HTTP & SOCKS Proxy — Flexible proxy support for a variety of use cases beyond gaming.
  • Bypass Firewalls — Get around restrictive network policies while maintaining gaming performance.
  • Tier 1 Network — Access to over 630 dedicated nodes and 1,000+ free public nodes worldwide.

Supported Platforms

Available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Steam Deck, OpenWRT routers, and as a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox. Also supports virtual machine (OVA image) and WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) environments for maximum flexibility.

Highlights

Pros

  • Reduces in-game ping by 10–40ms through direct routing and WAN optimization technology, giving a smoother gaming experience
  • Operates over 630 dedicated nodes across 52 regions plus 1,000+ free public nodes for broad geographic coverage
  • FastConnect mode and per-app VPN mode route only game traffic through the network, minimizing overhead for other applications
  • Supports a wide range of platforms including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Steam Deck, OpenWRT routers, and browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox
  • Offers multiple routing modes including Server Chain (two nodes) and Multi Path Mode (up to 4 nodes) for improved connection stability and redundancy
  • Includes HTTP and SOCKS proxy support alongside Full VPN mode for flexible configuration options

Cons

  • Supports only one device connection per account, with no native simultaneous multi-device functionality
  • Customer support is limited to email, forums, and a wiki with no live chat, and many forum discussions are solely in Korean
  • Does not encrypt user traffic, providing no privacy protection or security against ISP surveillance unlike conventional VPNs
  • Lacks a kill switch, IP leak protection, and DNS leak protection, leaving data exposed if the connection drops
  • Logs user IP addresses, device-specific information, and aggregate data about which websites and apps are accessed
  • Cannot unblock popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, or Amazon Prime Video
